Spanish and English pronunciation:

Mayra Zambrano was born and raised in the Inland Empire, California. She recently graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with her BFA. She is a Chicanx artist who works with glass, ceramics, painting, sculpture, wood, and neon. Zambrano feels that mixing media is significant to her biculturalism, as she believes that being an artist connects with her artisan lineage and ancestry. Zambrano noticed an absence of representation of her culture in the arts and is motivated to be a role model for people like her.

She has received the Judy Watson Fellowship and a scholarship to Pilchuck Glass School in 2023. She is a glass fabrication assistant for Katherine Gray and a volunteer at the California State University, San Bernardino. Zambrano has exhibited her work locally since 2023 and presented her first solo exhibition from February to March 2024. Zambrano received her first Residency from Museum of Craft and Design with She Bends as guest curators. She currently has work on display at The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Arts in Riverside, CA. and The Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, CA.
